Paper Pieced Heart Block

#handmadeheartaday 2023

There are only a handful of days left in February, but here at RockingChairQuilts.com we’re not done sharing heart projects yet. Here is today’s offering for @modafabrics month long maker to maker celebration #handmadeheartaday. Of course hearts are the go to shape for Valentines, but these sweet shapes add love and cheer to anything you could think of making. Today we ‘ve plugged Crystal Manning’s @cmanningsews Garden Society fabrics into our heart design. Because Springtime.

Today for @modafabrics #handmadeheartaday we are sharing a printable PDF for a foundation paper pieced heart block.

Click on the heart block picture below to download a printable PDF of the foundation for a 6″ finished heart.

Here you can see we used charm pack squares and the sequence to paper piece this heart block. If you’ve never foundation paper pieced before, there are MANY good YouTube video Tutorials and quilting blogs with how-to instructions for foundation paper piecing. So instead of doing a step by step tutorial on the blog today, do a search online and find a lesson you can follow. Print out a paper heart foundation or 2. I would encourage a beginner to start with fabric scraps and make a few test hearts until you get the hang of it , then move on to the fabrics you want to sew with for your finished heart block project.

See the resource list below with links to a few video and also bloggers instructions on foundation paper piecing. If none of these are helpful ,we encourage you to look online and find one that syncs with your thought process. Have fun!
